Groundwork welcomes volunteers from all walks of life.

People volunteering with us include those looking for work experience, people looking for something useful to do with their free time and people just wishing to get out and meet others.
By being part of a local organisation, you can make a real difference to the environment and other people's lives - so contact us now to see what's available.
There are a wide range of opportunities on offer, from outdoor to office work.
Examples of recent projects which Volunteers have worked on:
-
Researching and editing a Wildlife Database
-
Creating Digital Maps
-
Preparing for and analysing the results of a Consultation Exercise
-
Interpretation
-
Surveying sites
-
Working with young people
Most of our opportunities come from one of the following areas:
Project-based Work at a Local Groundwork Trust
Work on local community or environmental projects with staff from a range of disciplines, including project officers and landscape architects. Can include office/I.T. projects or be more outdoors based. Some Trusts also run visitor, nature study or community centres which rely on volunteers to stay open. Contact your local Trust for details.
Board Member opportunities at a Local Groundwork Trust
High calibre Board members are required to give strategic guidance and ensure accountability. Previous experience in the charity sector would be an advantage, but commitment and enthusiasm to our work is more important. You would be expected to attend quarterly meetings, plus events and sub-committees. These positions are voluntary. Contact your local Trust for details.
Project-based Work at Groundwork South East Regional Office
Work on regional projects with staff from a range of disciplines, including GIS (Geographic Information Systems), project development, marketing and fund raising.
