Roots to Financial Sustainability

Groundwork Trusts in the South East, in common with the wider voluntary sector, are having to adjust to the loss of or more intensive competition for traditional sources of funding, typically in the form of grant-in-aid.

The primary objective of this programme is therefore to assist trusts with diversifying there income through new social enterprise approaches based on their core business skills and experience. Through acting as environmental sector ‘champion’ within SEEDA’s ‘Cultural Shift’ programme, Groundwork is well placed to identify and support potential new market opportunities not only for the direct benefit of the Trusts, but also for the wider environmental sector within the region.

Business opportunities are being pursued in the following sub-sectors; landscape creation and management, waste collection and recycling, energy production and other environmental technologies, and conservation of the built and natural environment.
