Regional Director - Lou Kizwini

Lou KizwiniLou has come to Groundwork after a career in the Environment Agency that has included a secondment with the London Development Agency (LDA). In his previous roles in the Environemnt agency Lou worked on various partnership and regeneration projects and subsequently managed a department in one of the Area offices.  His role before leaving the Agency was Performance Manager and he was instrumental in implementing a new performance management system across the organisation. 

At the LDA, Lou led on the production of a feasibility study into London’s first ‘Low Carbon Development’ of scale to be built in the Thames Gateway.


Regional Development Manager - Joe McIndoe

Joe McIndoeJoe leads on the development of the regional programmes: Reducing the Footprint, Healthy and Active People and Safer Communities. His position is part funded by SEEDA and an important aspect of his work is to align Groundwork’s activities to the objectives in the Regional Economic Strategy.  The role will generate income and bring benefits to the local Groundwork Trusts as well as the wider voluntary and community sector in the region. In addition to a programme development role Joe leads on the region's marketing needs, is an executive member of SEFS, and has recently joined SERTAB (the South East Regional Technical Advisory Body for Waste).

Joe joined Groundwork in April 2005, having worked as a fundraiser in the London-based charity, Workforce, where he developed education and employment programmes for the NEET group; prior to that he worked in sales and marketing.


Regional Development Manager - Robin Jones

Robin JonesRobin rejoined the Groundwork Team in 2006, having previously worked for the former Kent Thames-side Trust for many years, and most recently has been Regional Manager for the Development Trusts Association in London.

Robin leads on supporting Trusts to diversify their income through adopting new enterprise directions, and the development of Regional Programmes such as Sustainable Greenspaces. He is also enabling Groundwork to expand its service provision into new priority locations within the Region, currently focussing on Milton Keynes in association with Groundwork Thames Valley.

Partnership working includes acting as environment 'champion' within SEEDA's £1.4m EQUAL - funded 'Cultural Shift' programme, aimed at encouraging the growth of social enterprise across a number of business sectors, and through membership of the 'Engaging Places' Regional Advisory Group. 


GIS Manager - Paul Hodgson

Paul HodgsonPaul provides a number of services using Geographic Information Systems at national, regional and local levels, see www.groundwork-gis.org.uk for more details. One of the key tasks has been to create an evidence base for use by Groundwork's regional team as they develop programmes. Paul also provides training and support in GIS to the local Groundwork Trusts in the SE. Paul is Groundwork's lead on a number of partnership projects including Rural Urban Fringe Mapping and Home to Hub.

Before joining the regional team in May 2004, Paul worked for Groundwork Thames Valley in several roles including Operations Manager for the Colne Valley Regional Park.


GIS Officer -David Edmends

David EdmendsDavid Edmends has been a GIS Officer for Groundwork since January 2005. He was initially employed to research sustainable transport issues in the South East as part of the Home to Hub project funded by SEEDA. His background in GIS began at Manchester Metropolitan University where he studied GIS with North American Studies and continued at Nottingham University where he completed a MSc in GIS.

His current main focus of work centres around the delivery of web based public participation GIS, including interactive web based mapping, and animated 3D models for planning purposes.


GIS Officer - Tom Harrison

Tom’s background is a BSc (Hons) in Geographic Information Science from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. The degree covered all aspects of GIS with a years foundation in land survey techniques.After graduation, Tom was employed by Korec, a company specialising in the use of GPS and mobile GIS for surveying sites. His role was technical support and training throughout the UK for the GIS & Mapping division. Duties ranged from email & telephone support, training, compilation of training documents and software development. Tom also used to provide training across Europe and Asia for Trimble.


GIS Assistant - Thomas Puthusserry

Thomas PuthusserryThomas joined the GIS unit in March 2008. He holds an M.Sc (Tech) in Geophysics and worked as a research scientist at the National Geophysical Research Institute, India. Previous experience includes working on a project using GIS to assess groundwater quality and feeding the results back to communities and also researching climate changes. He has published over 15 scientific papers in different international journals.

His role includes assisting the GIS Team in data management, spatial analysis, mapping, monitoring and evaluation services.
