Geographical Information Systems
Geographic Information Systems are increasingly used in different areas of public and business life. GIS uses computer-based maps and databases to show information clearly or to carry out analysis.
Groundwork’s national GIS team is hosted by Groundwork South East and delivers a range of projects each year directly to external organisations, as well as providing a specialist centre for the Groundwork Federation.
Groundwork is able to build on its community based approach and offer a 'human side' to GIS. We have a range of skills amongst our staff and particular areas of expertise include:
-
using GIS to engage with local people and other stakeholders
-
using GIS for Green Infrastructure projects- web-based mapping
-
using GIS as a decision-making tool
